Next Event - Manx May Stages May 8/9th2009
It was Dan’s first Tarmac Rally and describes it as easy; “We did not try hard or push, we just enjoyed ourselves and got everything right. We made our own pace notes from scratch and we did that well. No moments and no problems which was good considering it was the first time Gina and I sat together and first time the Suzuki had done and event!”
Dan and the car went on the do the Manx International and won the N1 class by over 11minutes beating much higher powered machinery. They were seeded behind a brand new European specification Subaru Impreza on the final day! “I don’t think the driver was to happy that we were matching his stages times!” Dan obviously has some talent and it is well proven, lets hope he gets the sponsors and support he needs to help him move up the ladder to a works team.
This year the duo we will be in a new Citron Saxo being built by John Kneen in the Isle of Man. It’s a standard 1600 car used in class N2 (Group N is modification within FIA regulations and N2 are cars between 1401 and 1600cc) “Again we will be in a new car but as long as the reliability is there then I am sure we will be in for another class win. We cant wait and we are very excited”
Dan hopes to close another sponsorship deal for the event speaking to a number of tyre manufactures and previous team sponsors. It seems the clever companies market themselves in the hard times like now, as they can get better deals and Dan is all to well aware of the factors involved working with large sponsors.
Watch out for the crew on the Isle of Man and feel free to go and chat to the team!
See you there and good luck to Dan and Gina!
