DATE: 4th December 2006 Recycled Rally Car Returns to Grizedale North-west car parts recyclers, www.Autobreakers.co.uk, are, (fittingly), behind the return of a re-built rally car to the Coppermines Grizedale Stages on 9th December in Cumbria. Lancashire rallyman Dan Boardman is moving up to the British Rally Championship in 2007, but will be driving his “recycled” first ever rally car, a Peugeot 205 1.6GTi for the last time next weekend. The 205 has been off the road for almost 2 years following its last outing in the 2004 Grizedale Stages. Dan has spent the autumn completely re-building the car and intends to hire it out in 2007 to but has decided to have one final outing on gravel stages, thanks to sponsorship from Autobreakers. Sitting alongside Dan will be his Isle of Man International Rally class-winning co-driver Kev Haven from Pontypool and the pair hope to round off the 2006 season with another class win. “Although we haven’t competed together before in the 205, Kev was the Peugeot 205 Challenge Championship runner-up co-driver in 2005, so our winning form in the Manx earlier this year shouldn’t be much affected by the change of car” says Dan. “I am looking forward to driving my faithful Peugeot 205 at Grizedale competing against mainly 4 wheel-drive turbocharged cars which are much more powerful than mine” says Dan. “I have been seeded third in class B10 at position 59 but am aiming to repeat my 2 recent successive class wins in the Isle of Man earlier this year.” “We were thrilled with Dan’s performance in the Isle of Man and are proud to support Boardman Motorsport again in Grizedale” says Alasdair Jackson, General Manager of Autobreakers. “As this is a local event, we have also arranged for some staff to head up to spectate at the weekend as VIP guests for the day so there will be a big Autobreakers presence representing Preston and cheering the team on.” To request spectator information for Grizedale this weekend with a chance to meet Daniel at the event, or to enquire about partnership with Boardman Motorsport in 2007, which offers innovative marketing and publicity opportunities, contact Daniel on 07970 533383 or . - ENDS - Notes to editors: |
